Amazon’s second Prime-member exclusive event, Prime Big Deal Days, runs from October 7 to 8 this year. Similar to the official Prime Day in the summer, this sale offers exclusive discounts on millions of items across the site.

If you’re looking to start your holiday shopping early — and over one-third of shoppers are this year, says RetailMeNot — Prime Big Deal Days is here just on time.

Here are five tips to save on Prime Big Deal Days.

One of the best ways to save while doing your Amazon shopping is to check out using a Prime Visa (see rates and fees) and earn up to 5% back on your purchases. The 5% cash back also applies to Amazon Fresh purchases and your shopping at Whole Foods, too. While the card does require a Prime membership, the card itself doesn’t have any annual fee, plus you’ll earn extra cash back at restaurants, gas stations and more.

Perhaps the biggest selling point: When Prime members are approved for the Prime Visa, they’ll instantly get a $150 Amazon gift card. Since most online applications receive a response within 15 seconds, you can quickly apply, get approved and use your new gift card during Prime Big Deal Days.

While Prime Big Deal Days is exclusive to Prime members, there are a few ways to get a discounted or trial membership, so you can still get access to the sales.

If you’re new to Amazon Prime, you can get a 30-day free trial. While you will have to add a credit card, you can always cancel it before you get charged the $139 annual membership fee ($14.99 monthly) if you’re not enjoying it. If you’re a student or young adult (age 18 to 24), you can qualify for a 6-month trial for $0, once you verify your enrollment and/or age.

With the young adult membership, after the $0 trial period, you’ll pay a discounted rate of $7.49 per month or $69 a year. EBT, Medicaid, SNAP and other select government assistance recipients can qualify for a Prime Membership discount of $6.99 per month.

Since the prices of Amazon items tend to shift a lot, it can be helpful to see the history of an item’s price over time, so you know when you’re getting the best deal.
